700 Pound Shark Off The Coast Of NJ
Well Rat Rockers looks like a 700 pound white shark who’s name is “Hali” decided to swing through the Atlantic City ocean waters, and maybe even decided to put some money on some of the tables and do some gambling. Just kidding but at any rate if your going to be down that way and maybe some early swimming you might want to check with the local lifeguards.
This 700 pound white shark was tracked by organization called OCEARCH that does just that, meaning tracking sharks. This baby is 10 feet long , and was tagged by OCEARCH with the transponder that is located on the dorsal fin. So when “Hali”comes to the surface or pretty close to it, that’s when the ping goes off to let us know exactly where it is.
This beauty got the name “Hali” for the local people of Halifax, Nova Scotia . This white shark got the name from the partners at Sea World, who support wildlife rescue rehabilitation and conservation efforts and vital ocean health. The great people from OCEARCH is a non profit organization that does research on these ocean giants to get us data in their movements in the ocean.
This data does bring awesome information too about “Hali”, as she was tagged back in September of 2021 off the shore of Novia Scotia, and since that has happened “Hali” has been busy. The 700 pound white shark has been traveling over 7,600 miles up and down the East Coast. The experts are saying since the warm weather and water getting up in temperature, we will being seeing a lot more pings from sharks off the coast.
As summer does approach us, we do remind you to be extra careful out in the ocean and where we swim and enjoy ourselves. Thank you for reading this post and as always thank you for rocking out with me and 95.9 The Rat.- Gotts
