Big Lots Closing Two Locations At The Jersey Shore
Yes, it is sad to say that Big Lots, the store that has pretty much everything from furniture to rugs, art, holiday items, stuff for the kids, and more, is shutting its doors.
According to a recent report from axis.com, they will be shutting down the two locations in Monmouth and Ocean Township.
Bruce Thorn, Big Lots‘ President and Chief Executive Officer, said, “We all have worked extremely hard and have taken every step to complete a going concern sale. While we remain hopeful that we can close an alternative going concern transaction, in order to protect the value of the Big Lots estate, we have made the difficult decision to begin the GOB process.”
Which Big Lots Are Closing Here At The Jersey Shore
There are a couple of Big Lots locations here in New Jersey. The two in our area that will affect us are the Big Lots on Route 66 in Ocean Township and the one located at Trotters Way in Freehold, New Jersey.
Big Lots had 27 stores here in New Jersey, and 13 of them will be closing. They have announced a purchase agreement with Nexus Capital Management and will continue to work forward to complete an ongoing transaction with Nexus or another party. The Company’s goal is to get a sale by early January.
Gotts’ Outlook
I have been to both of these locations and shopped around the stores. Everything you need is right at your fingertips. I picked up a couch and a brand new bed set that I just love sleeping in. Now might be the time to get over there and see what deals you can get on a lot of their stuff.
It’s going to be very sad to see them go, not to mention the employees looking for new jobs now. My one question is, where is all the stuff they carry going to end up?
