There’s A New BBQ Joint Opening In Silverton!
I saw the sign on the door Sunday and I almost drove off the road. BBQ…Coming to Silverton? Well if the sign on the door is correct, then coming soon to Rands Plaza on Hooper Avenue in Silverton, and then to my belly, will be the Sweet Carolina BBQ Company!
This would be the second Ocean County location for them, as they have a flagship store at 55 Main St. New Egypt. That location serves up everything from Lexington-style Pulled Pork, to Baby Back Ribs, Chopped Brisket, homemade slaw, mac n cheese, and even sell Cheerwine! What is Cheerwine you ask? Well, that is just some of the best sodas ever made in the Carolinas. You gotta try it! Plus they have a food truck, and of course, from-scratch Carolina Style BBQ Sauce, that I am now dying to try.
Silverton residents have been hoping for a bbq place for a long time.
If you live or work in the Silverton area you know there aren’t many options when it comes to bbq in the general vicinity. So this is definitely a welcome site. I reached out to Sweet Carolina BBQ via the email provided on their website, as well as their Instagram account, to see if I could get the scoop on when the blessed event, otherwise known as the day they open. So far they haven’t gotten an opening date. As with most restaurant openings, there are a lot of permits and whatnot to go through with the town. So I’ll keep you posted. Once I find out I will shout it from the saucy mountain tops!
So now we wait for the big day!
In the meantime, I thought it would be kind of cool to show off some sexy bbq to get us all ready for the day Silverton finally gets what it has long deserved, some traditional Southern BBQ right in our own backyard. Oh and by the way, I did a little research and according to Wikipedia, Cheerwine is a cherry-flavored soft drink made by the Carolina Beverage Corporation of Salisbury North Carolina, and has been produced since 1917, claiming to be “the oldest continuing soft drink company still operated by the same family”. It’s delish!
