Don’t Toss It Out, Recycle Your Christmas Tree At These Ocean County Parks
This weekend marks a tough time for many Christmas lovers. Time to take the inside decorations down and put them in the attic. Pack up Santa and Baby Jesus (in separate bags of course) from the backyard and store them in the garage or shed. Throw out half-lit strands of lights, keeping the good ones, carefully rolled up in hopes of avoiding a late-day run to the Walgreens.
The Worst Part…
However, the most painful, yet emotionally cleansing part of “De Christmasing” the house, is without question, taking down the tree. It’s a tough time for all of us in some small way. All of the joy and anticipation of the Holiday Season comes crashing down, one candy cane at a time. In fact, if I were a wealthy man, I might just throw out the whole tree at once, with everything on it. Balls, lights, and all! Just to avoid the slow, arduous task, of saying goodbye.
Meanwhile, there are some small things you can do here in Ocean County, as well as all over the country to keep a little Holiday magic in the new year. Instead of tossing your old Fir friend onto the curb for the garbage man to earn last week’s Christmas tip, why not recycle your tree at one of the many wonderful Ocean County parks that are now accepting them?
It’s Easy and Free!
Most of your Ocean County Parks are accepting your real Christmas Trees for you to recycle. That’s right, THEY WON’T TAKE FAKE TREES. Just had to throw that disclaimer out there for ya. Moreover, these trees are free to drop off. Simply pack up the old gal onto the car, just like you did to get her home. She’s lost a little weight, so it will be easier. Next, head to one of the fine Ocean County parks listed below. At each park you will find a pile of trees from other environmentally conscience folk like yourself. Drop her off, and your done! It’s that simple. The trees will be mulched and spread out through the parks for a natural fertilizer and weed preventer. Now don’t you feel better about De Christmasing already? Sure you do! Unfortunately, there’s nothing they can do about your 2 week old Fruit Cake, sorry.
The parks are accepting trees to recycle through the end of this weekend. Find out more here.
