Did This Man Find Air Plane Seats Washed Up On The Jersey Shore?
An eery discovery. It looks like a man found plane seats washed up on the Jersey Shore after the big storm moved through. Were the seats from TWA Flight 800? According to the video below as seen in The Pit, the seats were found on a beach “just outside of Quincy”. There’s no town in New Jersey named, “Quincy” but that could be a reference to a fairly popular chain of restaurants called, “Quincy’s” that sells lobster rolls. They have one location on Long Beach Island and three further locations south on the Jersey Shore.
The video from Matthew Jacob shows a metal structure that looks like a row of airplane seats. The fabric has been worn off the metal frame; there’s a bit of seaweed and possibly a fishing line tangled up throughout the structure. It lies at the water’s edge. If this is a row of airline seats it would likely mean that they are from a plane crash. Locally, that would possibly mean TWA Flight 800 which crashed into the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Long Island in 1996. TWA 800 crashed shortly after takeoff, killing everyone on board.
The First Video, Plane Seat Discovery
Matt got lots of views on his first video post on TikTok. Matt says he was walking the beach to check out the water when he stumbled on the finding:
Plane Seat Discovery Update
The last Nor’Easter storm that hit our area on December 17th and 18th created a massive storm surge. The entire Jersey Shore saw incredible surf action the likes of which most locals have never seen. 20-foot waves pummeled the beach and brave local surfers got some of the rides of their lifetime. But that wave action also can churn up debris that has been on the bottom of the ocean floor. Many times this debris ends up getting washed back out into the ocean. But it often drops the debris up on the beach as well. Could these be plane seats washed up on the Jersey Shore?

The Police Arrive
Matt gives us an update on the situation when the police arrive to collect the debris.
Whether this metal structure turns out to be airplane seats remains to be seen. Additionally, it will take a good bit of research to determine what plane the seats are from. As you can see, the structure seems to indicate four seats connected. This seating would be a wide-body airplane with 4 across seating in the coach section. From this link, it does look like TWA 800 did indeed have that seating configuration in economy seating. However, ferries and other boats could easily have this kind of seating on board as well. Most items on board an airplane are marked with serial numbers which may be traceable.
The discovery of the seats washed up on the beach would certainly turn dark should they turn out to be from TWA-800. It was a tragic day for aviation and our area as the next few videos remind us:
