Jersey Rock Feature of the Week: Tech Fest 8
Rocking The Brick Presbyterian Church on Saturday 4/14!
Ocean County’s number 1 student-run music festival is back for an 8th go round! Tech Fest 8 rocks The Brick Presbyterian Church on Saturday 4/14 with a stacked line-up of awesome local talent. The event features 20 bands on 2 stages for non-stop musical action. There will also be cool local art displays, great food, and totally rad prizes!
Tech Fest is put on by students of Ocean County Vocational Technical School’s Performing Arts Academy Tech Club. The organization, lead by Bill Bourke and Zack Slater, provides students with real world experience in the music industry. Students of the program learn the ins and outs of live sound, lighting, event coordination, video production and studio recording. Tech Fest allows them the opportunity to showcase their skills and raise money for a great cause.
Admission to Tech Fest is $10 at the door. Proceeds from the event go towards 2 student scholarships. The Dennis Bourke Hopes & Dreams Scholarship Fund is dedicated to and bears the name of Audio Program Founder Dennis Bourke. Each year the fund provides a scholarship to one audio student and one performing arts student. Learn more about The Dennis Bourke Hopes & Dreams Scholarship Fund HERE.
Many OCVTS students put the skills they learn producing Tech Fest to good use in the real world. A number of students have gone on to play in prominent local and out-of-state acts like Wicked Hollow, Skyeline, and The Wrecks.
