Jersey Rock Band of the Week: Wynward
Record Release Show Rocks The Brighton on Friday 12/1!
Brick Rock group Wynward’s debut album will be released on 12/1. However, it is recommended that one not be fooled by the term “debut.” While the upcoming “Tides” LP is the group’s first release, they are nothing short of veteran Jersey Rockers. Wynard is a high-energy Alternative Rock group with Metal roots that was born from the remnants of another great local act. According to scientific research a star is born from “the gradual gravitational collapse of a cloud of interstellar matter.” Those that know Wynward’s past may conclude that the Jersey Rock scene is witnessing the birth of a star.
“Tides” makes a statement with a kinetic collection of tracks that will surely please fans of strong original rock music. Wynward draws influence from the likes of Pearl Jam, Nirvana, The Foo Fighters, Weezer, and Metallica. The feel of those influences is assimilated into a sound that is both original and familiar. Simply put, it rocks hard and is well worth a listen. You can score a download of “Tides” at wynwardnj.com.
Physical copies of Wynward’s debut album “Tides” will be available at the band’s record release show at The Brighton Bar in Long Branch on Friday 12/1. A number of special guests, including Funeral Students and The Barbarians will join the band on stage that night. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. More info on the show’s facebook event page and at brightonbar.com.
Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The Rat on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30pm to hear cuts from Wynward’s “Tides” LP. Bassist Nick Abatemarco will call in to the show each night!
