When Will Local Night Club Be Knocked Down? It’ll Be A While
A redevelopment plan for The Headliner Nightclub in Neptune City has gotten the public talking about the redevelopment plan for the area. The area of The Headliner, Sunsets Restaurant, and the now-closed nearby hotel will lead to the razing of all three businesses to make way for a new hotel/entertainment area that aims to revitalize that area near the Shark River inlet.
The hotel in question has been an eyesore since a weather incident ruined the roof allowing an incredible amount of water damage which has turned the hotel into a total knock-down. Quite frankly, the hotel was an eyesore before the storm blew its roofing all over the surrounding neighborhood.
Since the redevelopment plan was introduced, fans and partygoers have been wondering what the timing of the club’s destruction might be. There have been lots of questions in the local sand volleyball community as well from volleyball players who have been playing sand volleyball at The Headliner’s courts for over 30 years. Well, in a nutshell, it’s going to be a while before the wreckers show up on the property to tear any of the establishments down. A recent announcement from the nightclub’s owner says that the redevelopment plan is just that, only a plan, and, even though it was worked out with the help of state representatives, the redevelopment plan hasn’t been approved by the town yet.
“Regarding the recent publication on Neptune waterfront redevelopment: The tentative Neptune redevelopment plans are yet to be approved and development will take several years upon final approval. The Headliner Oasis is and will remain open for years to come… We look forward to your continued business for years to come as well as the possibility of a new venue..”
It sounds like the work on the area is months, if not years, away. So party on, Wayne… Party on Garth!
