Man Arrested After Holding Howell Resident at Gunpoint
FREEHOLD — A 19-year-old has been charged after allegedly holding a Howell Resident at Gunpoint Tuesday afternoon.
According to the Office of the Monmouth County Prosecutor, the incident occurred during a merchandise transaction.
The Incident
The office of the Monmouth County Prosecutor says the Howell Township PD responded to the area of the 4200 block of Route 9 South for a reported shots fired incident.
After an investigation, officials revealed that the male victim reported he contacted Giancarlo Nevarez of the Clarksburg section of Millstone, through social media to sell him pairs of high-end sneakers. It was reported that Nevaraze presented a firearm, and ran off with the sneakers. Officials say nobody was injured by the gunshot.
Nevarez was arrested and charged with furst0degree Armed Robbery, second-degree Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose, and second-degree Unlawful Possession of a Weapon.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Raymond S. Santiago is reminding the public that the sheriff’s office and other local agencies have set up “safe exchange” spots as a means to protect residents and minimize the risk of someone becoming a victim of similar crimes.

Every defendant, including Nevarez, is presumed innocent unless otherwise proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt, following a trial at which Nevarez has all of his rights guaranteed.
