This Gift Wrapping Hack Could Save You If You Cut Too Small
It’s gift wrapping season and that means it’s frustration season. After finding the one light on the Christmas light strand that makes the whole damn strand go dark, wrapping presents would be the second most frustrating part of the holiday season. If someone invented a wrapping paper gun that blasted the wrapping paper onto the gift, I’d buy two of ’em. One thing that always screws me up is when I cut that piece of gift wrap paper too small for the gift. Ugh! So damn frustrating! But, worry not, dear reader, because a few years ago I found a hack for gift wrap that solves that problem!
It turns out that simple geometry saves the day when you cut your piece of gift wrapping just a tad too small for the gift you’re trying to wrap! Hah! Remember when we thought we’d never use geometry?! Well, check that box off, baby!
Lots of people toss the small piece of gift wrap in a pile and try to use it later. Still others cut off a smaller strip of gift wrap that can be taped to cover the part of the gift that is peeking through. But, neither of those methods are necessary. All you have to do is turn the gift diagonally on the piece of wrapping paper. Then you fold the sides and top and bottom as you would normally. The sides and top and bottom make these cool little triangle shapes and most times they cover all the area of the package, even that parts that didn’t get covered when you had the gift centered the other way.
Don’t believe me? Watch the hack for gift wrap video below. You’ll see that the geometry magic saves the day when you have cut your piece of wrapping paper just a little too small for the gift. It’s a holiday tip miracle!
Then again, you could always bring the gift to a charity table at a store to have them wrap it. Or, if you’re that holiday-impaired, consider a gift card.
