GALLERY: Large Brush Fire Takes Over Lakewood And Brick Township
A brush fire that started in Lakewood and spread through Brick Township on Sunday (March 14) grew into a major forest fire in New Jersey.
The fire was first reported after 1 p.m. which lead to damaging multiple structures and houses while burning over 170 acres of land.
It has been reported that a New Jersey Forest Fire Service firefighter is in critical condition at a nearby hospital.
“The origin has been identified and the cause is under investigation, though we can state it was not from a prescribed burn as reported inaccurately online,” New Jersey Forest Fire Service shared to Facebook.
Residents near the wildfire are urged to stay away from the impacted areas and emergency response activity.
