Jersey Rock Artist of the Week: Kenny Dubman
“Reckless Abandon” Album Out Now!
His name is well known by veteran members of the Jersey Rock scene. His sound can be described as powerful, organic and classic. His driving compositions easily compliment his wisdom-fueled lyrics. He is Kenny Dubman and his first ever solo record is out now.
“Reckless Abandon” is a deep, somewhat dark, and thoroughly hard-rocking journey that needs to be experienced with the volume dial turned all the way to the right. Drawing influence from 1970’s Rock staples like Bad Company, Kansas, Deep Purple and Lynyrd Skynyrd with a little bit of Queen, Ozzy, Rush and Montrose mixed in, the disc feels much more timeless than it does retro.
While he is known to be a local guitar hero, Dubman wanted the album to be much more than just an instrumental-heavy recording. He said, “I wanted to make a song record first; making a guitar record was never really part of the equation.” The end result is an LP comprised of well-crafted songs, that just so happens to possess some killer guitar work.
