Jersey Rock Band of the Week: Matt O’Ree Band
Rocking The David Bryan & Friends Show at The Stone Pony in Asbury Park on August 17!
Matt O’Ree Band is in the midst of a major musical odyssey. The group regularly tours the US and has logged a lot of hours rocking Europe as of late. They’re about to spend a month performing 6 nights per week on the Virgin Music cruise ship. We’re stoked to see their musical voyage continue!
Before M.O.B takes to the high seas, they will stop in the city by the sea for a special night at The Stone Pony on Saturday August 17. The group will rock The David Bryan & Friends show that evening. The first half of the show is a straight up Matt O’Ree Band concert. The group will be joined by David Bryan and a number of special guests for the second half of the show.
Matt O’Ree and David Bryan met many years ago while Matt was performing at Jamian’s in Red Bank. The two became tight during their time together in Bon Jovi. Matt O’Ree said:
“David and I started doing a collaboration show a handful of years ago and we’re trying to turn it into a yearly event with David Bryan and a bunch of special guests that he keeps inviting down. It’s going to be a surprise as to who is going to be on stage with us but its going to be a really great time.“
Tickets for The David Bryan & Friends Show are available on ticketmaster, but we recommend you skip the fees and buy them in person at the Stone Pony Box Office.
Matt O’Ree Band’s latest album “Hand In Glove” is available now. You can score it in person at the Pony on August 17. Be sure to grab the double LP vinyl edition! Having an album pressed to vinyl was a long time goal for the band. Speaking of the release, Matt O’Ree said:
“That’s just a childhood dream of coming out with a vinyl record. To hear our songs on vinyl is such a thrill and the mastering company and the pressing company did a really great job on it. The quality of the record just sounds fantastic!“
If you don’t want to wait until August 17 to secure your vinyl edition of “Hand In Glove,” you can grab your copy HERE.
While it feels like the latest Matt O’Ree Band album just came out, the group is already hard at work on a follow-up. Speaking of their upcoming record, Matt O’Ree said:
“We are in the midst of writing another record. We’re pretty far into the next record. We have 3 songs we’ve been gigging out here and there just to work out the bugs in them. They’re really coming along great. I’m really happy with the direction. It’s different than Hand in Glove. Every time we make a new record, our goal is to make a better record than the last one and I think we’re really on a great track here!“
Of course “Hand In Glove” still has plenty of mileage left in it. Tune to Jersey Rock on 95.9 The RAT Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday at 11:30 pm to hear cuts from the LP. Matt O’Ree will call in to the show each night!
