New Jersey Caribbean Restaurant Named One Of Yelp’s Best
If you’re in a tropical place like Jamaica, you know part of the thrilling experience is getting a taste of some authentic cuisine. Yelp recently ranked the best Caribbean food spots in America and a New Jersey restaurant was named among the best for these flavors.
There are certainly some mainstays that are the first things you think of when you think of Caribbean food. For example, jerk chicken or pineapple-infused “anything.” Add a glass of fresh coconut juice, and you have many of the island essentials.
However, in this tropical part of the country, cooking can be an artform. Furthermore, sitting around with friends and family, sharing some home-cooked delicious food is an important part of Caribbean culture.
In America, Caribbean restaurants seem to have become understandably more popular. In fact, it’s not unusual to even find Jamaica-inspired food trucks in the metro area. In fact, Roaming Hunger recently detailed there are seven great Jamaican food trucks in New Jersey to be aware of.
However, if you are looking for a great Caribbean spot in the Garden State that doesn’t change its location each day, here is the restaurant that made Yelp’s list.
Morgan’s Island Grill Is The New Jersey Restaurant Named
Located at 110 Mercer St, in Hightstown Morgan’s Island Grill is open six days a week at 11 am (closed Mondays). They say, “nothing brings people together like good food.” In addition, to their great food, the atmosphere of the location further inspires this vibe.
At Morgan’s Island, you can, of course, find all your Caribbean food favorites, but they also serve some unique varieties. For example, there’s the Rasta Pasta on the menu. It’s a spicy twist on a classic dish that comes standard with broccoli, sundried tomatoes, onions, peppers and garlic. Then, you choose if you will add in jerk chicken, ribs, shrimp or fish.
If your preference is to grab a plate of traditional order, the menu has something for everyone. Wraps, sandwiches, and salads accompany a list of 22 entrees. While you wait for the main course, you are going to want to consider sharing a French fry plate topped with jerk chicken.
Yelp also recommended the beef patty, curry goat, ox tails, or Mig’s special jerk wings. This restaurant’s owner and chef, Kenroy Morgan, is a native of Jamaica who has been cooking for years. He also owns Morgan’s Grill in Irvington.
Printed on each menu at Morgan’s Island Grill, you will find the parting message the owners like to leave their diners with.
“It’s not fast food,
It’s food made specially for you.
Thank you for your patronage. ~ One Love!”
