Good morning, Sports fans! Davey Mac here with a plus-sized Sports Report for ya on a Friday! We’re looking at the NBA and NHL playoffs, what happened in Major League Baseball yesterday, and last night’s NFL Draft. We’ve got who the Giants and Jets selected, who went number one, and a little controversy with the Atlanta Falcons. But first!
Wow! This is kinda crazy! Former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick has some free time on his hands so he decided to join ESPN for this year’s NFL Draft and guess what? Bill Belichick has a personality! Who knew?! Belichick is getting rave reviews for their performance last night; as many have said he had a great presence on screen. He was very knowledgeable of the future NFL players at the Draft…and even showed a sense of humor. Check out the Belichick clips below and judge for yourself!
As far as the NFL Draft goes…with their first round pick, the Giants selected Malik Nabers…a fast wide receiver out of LSU. So no J.J. McCarthy for the G-Men. Interesting.
The Jets went with offensive tackle Olu Fashanu out of Penn State. Fashanu is 6’6” and 312 pounds. Can’t blame the Jets for getting protection for Aaron Rodgers.
The Eagles drafted Quinyon Mitchell…a cornerback out of Toledo. He’s supposed to be a speedy and skilled player.
USC’s Caleb Williams was the first overall pick as Williams was drafted to the Chicago Bears. No surprise there.
There was a little controversy…as the Atlanta Falcons drafted superstar quarterback Michal Penix Jr. right after they gave free agent QB Kirk Cousins a four-year deal for $180 million with $100 million guaranteed. Falcons owner Arthur Blank apparently was pretty ticked off at general manager Terry Fontenot for making this very confusing move.
