This Legendary Toms River Bar Is Expanding
The famous Happy Hour Bar in Toms River has closed for renovations. However it’s not just renovating, it’s owners are expanding it for the future!
The Happy Hour, as it’s known, was created and opened in 1979 by original owner Jim Paris. Over the past 45 plus years it has served thousands of customers from its location at 730 Jamaica Boulevard at the Plaza 1 Mini Mall. Furthermore, the Holiday City, Berkeley, and Silver Ridge areas are all near the bar. That means tons of the 55 and over crowd living within a few mile radius of the Happy Hour. This makes it easy to understand why the tiny pub has lasted generations.
A New Beginning For A Favorite: Happy Hour Bar.
Now comes word that this gem of Toms River, “Where Friends Both Old And New Gather”, will be expanding. The word is, the Happy Hour will be renovating its existing space and expanding into two adjacent spaces next door, thus tripling its size! Meanwhile Joel Havens, a member of the fantastic Facebook page Ocean County Memories, shared some photos of the early part of construction. It’s nice to know the owners of the Happy Hour are getting down to business right away. With any luck this project can be completed in a few short months. It would be great if the new Happy Hour could be open in time for the summer! Officially there is no new opening date. However we will be keeping an eye and an ear out for any info on a planned opening for the new bar.
Meanwhile, besides the great staff, cheap beer, games, and camaraderie, a reason the Happy Hour has lasted is the food! Locals say it’s always good quality and healthy portions. Great breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and even late night and game day bar food! The hope is the menu expands even further along with the location.
