New Report Says That New Jersey Is The 5th Happiest State In America
That’s right, haters! A new report from Wallet Hub says that our beloved New Jersey is the 5th happiest state in the entire country! Eat it, Florida! Take that California! Go for a spin, Virginia! New York? Bahahahahaha, you apples didn’t even make the top 10!
According to the report, the only states that are happier than us here in the Garden State are Minnesota, Maryland, Hawaii, and Utah.
The study from Wallet Hub took the following factors into consideration when they did their study: “1) Emotional & Physical Well-Being, 2) Work Environment and 3) Community & Environment.”
If you wonder why so many people around here walk around with a giant, “F.U.” on their foreheads, this report might be a surprise to you.
But, happiness comes from a ton of different factors; a lot of which we control on our own. Sleep, exercise, booze, what football team we pick to rally behind (LOL!). All that stuff contributes to what makes us happy.
So, if you’ve got a physical hobby like running or working out; you’re probably a bit happier. Our job status is another big one, according to their rankings. And, apparently, people from ‘Jersey do well with that as well.
According to the report, the main thing that drives New Jersey’s happiness is our, “Emotional and Physical Well-Being”. In that category, we’re actually THIRD in the country. So, there’s your morning walk or run. There’s your staying active. That’s your maintaining close friendships. There’s your keeping on top of your mental health situation.
The other two major categories fall off quite a bit. We’re 13th in “work environment”. That’s your job security, the state’s unemployment rate (which is actually decently low recently), work hours, and our time spent commuting. I wouldn’t be surprised if we’re 13th in this category because of our awful commute time. Ugh.
And in their category of “community and environment,” we’re 29th in the nation. According to the report that’s our weather, divorce rate, and leisure time. Yeah, I would say that we need to do better… so let’s pick that up a bit!
I guess it turns out that for all our self-loathing here in Dirty Jersey… New Jersey is the 5th happiest state in the country! Cheers!
