Are You Wondering What Will Replace The Perkin’s Restaurant On Route 37 In Toms River? Find Out Here!
I used to love going to Perkin’s for weekend breakfasts after I moved here over 25 years ago. The first visit was at the one that was on the Route 35 circle near my home in Ocean Township. Then a few years later I moved to the Toms River area and discovered the Perkin’s Restaurant on Route 37 West . Both are now gone.
Unfortunately, Perkin’s declared bankruptcy in 2019 and soon after, both of my beloved Perkin’s Restaurants closed. No more round baby tater tot hash browns thingies or those juicy burgers. I really loved the wait staff, and eyeballing those fabulous pies in the display case at the register when you walked in.
I’ve been wondering for a while now, which new business will move on to that property.
Today I found out, and now I’m going to share my findings with you.
A place called Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steak burgers will be occupying the property where Perkin’s used to be on Route 37 East and it’s going to have a drive-thru too.
According to an article from Jersey Shore online, a representative for Freddy’s said it will be opening in the late spring or early summer of 2023. Right now they’re working on demolishing the interior.
According to Freddy’s website: Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers® was co-founded in 2002 by brothers Bill and Randy Simon with their friend and business partner, Scott Redler. It was named in honor of Bill and Randy’s father. Together, they built a brand focused on quality, hospitality, cleanliness and timeless traditions.
Today, our Freddy’s Family creates fresh, made-to-order, craveable food, served to our guests with genuine hospitality in a fun, inclusive environment,”. Each patty is pressed thin, to make it crispy around the edges. The front page lists “Freddy’s Favorites,” which include cheese curds, Oreo cookie peppermint shake, and jalapeno pepper jack steakburger.
The franchise was started in 2004 by two brothers and a friend in Wichita, Kansas. They named the restaurant after the patriarch of the family, Freddy Simon, a World War II veteran who spent his career in the hospitality industry. In 20 years, the chain has grown to more than 400 locations worldwide.
