Yeah Rat Rockers, I decided to look back at the top 5 rock bands that had the best halftime show. We really kind of always get pop stars, and hip-hop artist in the Super Bowl. I think we saw enough of Taylor Swift this season as far as pop artists in the crowd. The Super Bowl always has eyes on the game and of course the halftime show. This will be Super Bowl LVIII and will be on the field of the Las Vegas Raiders. Get more information on the Super Bowl right HERE.

Top Rock Bands I Think Should Be On This List That Never Played Halftime

With all the years that the Super Bowl has been going on you would think we could get some of the greats. These bands put rock and roll on the map. If you ask me rock and roll is alive and well and should be recognized in one of the biggest live shows that gets so many views on TV. So here is a list of bands THAT I THINK SHOULD BE PLAYING THE SUPER BOWL.

  • Metallica
  • Guns And Roses
  • AC/DC
  • Foo Fighters
  • Pearl Jam
  • Bon Jovi

The real question is why not? One of these bands deserves to play in my opinion. Moreover, we did have some great rock artists do the halftime show and now we take a look and show some recognition to the bands that were fortunate to rock it out.

HERE IS THE LIST OF MY TOP 5 ROCK BANDS THAT DID PLAY HALFTIME.

  • 1. PRINCE

One of the greatest halftime performances, Super Bowl XLI February 4th 2007. Prince was tearing up the guitar and during the song “Purple Rain,” it actually started raining! He must have talked to someone up above to get that timed out right. One of the coolest things ever.

  • 2. U2

The boys from Ireland did a wonderful job on this halftime show. Super Bowl XXXVI down in New Orleans was on February 3rd, 2002 and was really heartfelt. The year after our country was attacked on 9-11, U2 during their performance, did mention all the victims on the screen behind them. God Bless America and let us never forget.

  • 3. Tom Petty And The Heartbreakers

Back on February 3 2008, the late and great Tom Petty headlined Super Bowl XLII. This one took place in Arizona. The NY Giants played the New England Patriots. If you recall this game, not only did Tom Petty rock it but the NY Giants had the miracle catch when David Tyree did the helmet catch from Eli Manning and came out with the victory.

  • 4. The Who

Super Bowl XLIV did headline The Who and this one took place February 7 2010, down in Miami Florida. For the front man Roger Daltrey, it was a bit scary for health reasons. Just a year before the bands’ performance Roger did have surgery done to remove a growth from his vocal cords.

  • 5. The Rolling Stones

This halftime show with The Stones was really crazy. Taking place at Ford Fields on February 5 2006 Super Bowl XL was with Seattle Seahawks and The Pittsburgh Steelers. The reason it sticks out is because The Stones did the stage in the form of their logo. Also only did 3 songs, “Start Me Up,” “Satisfaction” and “Rough Justice.”

  • 6. J -Lo And Shakira

This one is on the list for a bonus. I just watched this halftime show with the volume down but it was still very NICE to look at !! Cheers
