And The Most Popular Three Halloween Candies In New Jersey Are…
We've been naughty and nice! Oh, wait. Wrong holiday! But when it comes to the most popular Halloween candy in New Jersey, our top three is decent.
According to a new report from CandyStore.com, the most popular Halloween candy in New Jersey is actually a repeat winner from 2022!
In previous years, reports have placed Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups in the #1 slot. Or even Kit Kat’s and Milky Way. But not this year.
The report puts the Tootsie Pop at number one. M&M’s are number two; and Skittles are number three.
I gotta tell ya, while I don’t really agree with the order of these candies, I think we’ve got a solid top three most popular Halloween candy in New Jersey.
Skittles are genius and delicious; a real crowd favorite. M&M’s are a classic and, like Skittles, come in so many new varieties that you’ll never get bored choosing in the candy aisle.
While I love a good Tootsie Pop, I’m not sure that I would put them as the number one candy; but that’s where the Candystore website sales put them.
People of certain age will remember the classic TV commercial which finally answered the question about the number of licks it took to get to the Tootsie Roll center of the candy:
Shockingly, that commercial was lying to us. Not only is there zero evidence that turtles and owls include Tootsie Pops in their daily diet (LOL!) but three is no where near the actual answer!
The question was finally put to rest by a bunch of researchers at Perdue University. The researchers created a special “lick machine” to simulate a human lick. Their machine was modeled after a human tongue. According to that machine tongue it takes 364 licks to get to the Tootsie Roll center. However, they also had a panel of 20 volunteers (each with their own tongue). The average number of licks for the humans in the study was 252.
Not that we need more confusion, but there have been other studies on this “licking” topic. And the other results suggest that the answer may range from 411 to 144. We may never know the truth.
But one thing is for sure: THREE AIN’T THE ANSWER!
7 Wicked Good Halloween Events To Hit This Spooky Season
Hell yeah, it’s Halloween Season at The Jersey Shore! That means fun decorations, costume parties, haunted houses and hayrides. I’m talkin’ Halloween events for everyone on the Jersey Shore in Monmouth and Ocean Counties!
WRAT’s annual costume party will be going down on October 28th. The party starts at 8pm at Martell’s on the boardwalk in Point Pleasant Beach! We’ll have a great time with live music from Big Bang Baby, a live DJ between sets, and a free buffet. Plus don’t forget that cash prizes for the costume contest! It’s always a great time so stay tuned for your chance to win free passes!
Some of these Halloween events on the Jersey Shore are way too scary for kids because the employees specifically want to scare the you-know-what out of you. They take scaring you as a point of pride, so beware! Anything like that and I’ll mention that it’s not for kids. But, lots of these Halloween events are perfect for everyone.
I’ve left off the trunk-or-treat events and most of the farmers market type places that just toss some pumpkins in a field and call it, “Pick Your Own Pumpkin”. Those things are cool but, for me, they’re just ways for those places to jump on the Halloween bandwagon. All of these joints put some real effort into Halloween events on the Jersey Shore; they get us psyched up into the Halloween spirit!
So, get your ghoul on. Take a shot of courage and venture, if you dare, into the Halloween season. Get into the night and see if you can make it back alive! There’s no telling what creatures may be hiding!
Halloween is our favorite holiday because there’s parties, you get to get dressed up, you don’t have to buy tons of presents for everyone and you don’t have to cook for everyone in your family!
The only question left is: How many of these will you hit this spooky season?!
When Carl is not working at the greatest rock radio station known to mankind; a station known around the globe; a station that has the best music, co-workers, advertisers and most importantly THE BEST F'N LISTENERS you may find me doing any one of the following: Riding or making mountain bike trails. playing with his kids. playing sand volleyball on 5th Ave, cooking amazing food, including on his sweet smoker grill, going to concerts, swimming in the ocean, going to amusement parks with his kids, and other stuff that rocks!
