DWI Checkpoints This Weekend in Monmouth County

The Monmouth County DWI Task Force has scheduled two DWI checkpoints this weekend. The first checkpoint is scheduled for tonight at 10 on Route 36 in Keyport. The second checkpoint will be conducted from 9 Saturday night until one o-clock Sunday morning on Main Street in Allenhurst.
A Hazlet man is accused of breaking into his dad’s home Wednesday evening to fatally attack him. Monmouth County prosecutors say Ernest Kotey strangled his father, Nikoi Kotey. He’s also accused of attacking his 67-year-old aunt inside the home, who suffered a neck injury. She managed to get free and escape the house. Kotey was arrested at the scene and taken to Monmouth County Correctional Institution where he’s awaiting a hearing.
New Jersey is protecting healthcare employees when entities change ownership. Governor Murphy signed a measure yesterday requiring that any change in ownership must honor workers’ contracts for at least four months after the deal is completed. That means wages, benefits, and current employment status must be preserved. The rule applies to all agreements, like sales, mergers, and reorganizations. Companies that violate the law could face penalties.
The state’s unemployment rate fell slightly again in July, it’s down to 3.7%. Professional and business services led the growth last month with almost 49-hundred new jobs. 99% of the pandemic job losses in the state have been recovered. The national unemployment rate is 3.5%
