Good morning, Sports fans! Davey Mac here back with a full-sized Sports Report for ya! But before we hit the Scoreboard, we’ve got some news for baseball fans.
Managers Davey Johnson, Lou Piniella, Cito Gaston, and Jim Leyland are up to be voted into the Baseball Hall Of Fame by a committee this week. Anyone chosen will be inducted into the Hall of Fame next July 21 along with players voted in by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America, whose balloting will be announced on Jan. 23.
Davey, of course, won the 1986 World Series with the Mets…the last time the Mets won the championship. He had 1,372 career wins in the Big Leagues.

Meanwhile, Piniella began his managing career with the Yankees…where he led them to some good years…before he got a job with the Reds…where he won the World Series in 1990. Piniella also had great success as manager of the Mariners.

Cito Gaston won back-to-back World Series in 1992 and 1993 with the Blue Jays and also played for 11 seasons.

Jim Leyland had phenomenal success with the Pirates before winning a World Series with the Marlins in 1997. He also won an American League Pennant with the Tigers…and led Team USA to the championship in the World Baseball Classic in 2017.
