Good morning, Sports fans!   It’s Davey Mac back with another action-packed and thrilling Sports Report for ya!   We’ve got the baseball, basketball, and hockey!   But first!

Did you see Yankee rookie Anthony Volpe’s first home run and hear John Sterling’s call?   If not…we got you!

 

 

So what do you think?   Did John hit a home run or strike out with this call?   Apparently, “Volpe” means “fox” in Italian (Volpe is of Italian ancestry on his father’s side).

Furthermore, people are translating “spettacolo oggi” has “doing something well” or “having himself a day.”

If you don’t know…Sterling has been doing personalized home run calls for the Yankees for years.   Each player gets his own, unique home run call.

In any event….Volpe hitting his first homer in the Big Leagues is pretty cool.   Congrats, Anthony!   Pretty awesome stuff from the kid from Jersey living out his Yankee dream!

  • Cole & Yanks Shut Out Twins

    The Yankees shut out the Twins yesterday thanks to stellar pitching from Gerrit Cole…two to nothing.   Cole pitched a complete game shutout…throwing nine innings…giving up no runs and just two hits…while striking out ten…Cole improves to 4 and 0.   D.J. LeMahieu had two hits including his second home run of the year.   The Yanks are now 10 and 6.

    The Mets beat the A’s in extra innings…4 to 3.   Pete Alonso slugged his 8th home run of the season as he’s off to a great start.   The Mets improve to 10 and 6 for the season.

    The Phillies destroyed the Reds…14 to 3…to improve to 6 and 10.
