And you know why, ladies and gentlemen, because the struggling and nearly non-hitting New York Yankees actually defeated future future Hall-Of-Famer and Met ace Max Scherzer.
But what has gotten me whistling this morning is Aaron Judge slugging his 47th home run of the year.

Judge has become the most exciting Yankee in years. He’s simply an amazing hitter, a fantastic fielder, an excellent leader, and popular player. There are 39 games left in the regular season for the Yankees. That means that Judge needs to hit 14 homers in those 39 games to tie Roger Maris’ franchise and American League record of 61 home runs in a single season. And let’s be honest…if Judge were to tie or even break Maris’ mark…he would be the first player to do it with no P.E.D. scandal looming over his head (unlike Barry Bonds, Mark McGwire, and Sammy Sosa).
The baseball world is already into Judge’s chase of Maris’ record. And hitting a home run off of the great Max Scherzer only ramped up people’s excitement. The question is…how will Major League Baseball treat this? As Judge goes for 62…will Baseball recognize Maris’ 61 as the actual home run record? A case could be made for that. After all, if Bonds and McGwire and Sosa can’t get into the Hall Of Fame due to their alleged P.E.D. usage, then why should their records count? It’s an inconsistency that MLB desperately needs to address. And that’s just my two cents.

Yanks Beat The Mets In An Electric Night
The Yankees and Mets electrified the sold-out Yankee Stadium last night in a game that saw the Yanks beat Max Scherzer and the Mets…4 to 2. The Bronx Bombers’ Aaron Judge slugged his 47th home run of the season which lit up the Stadium, Andrew Benintendi had two hits with two big RBI, Yankee starter Domingo German was excellent, and the Yankee bullpen got the job done between our Toms River guy Ron Marinaccio and Jonathan Loaisiga, who closed the game out. Mets ace Max Scherzer was human…giving up four runs…he receives the loss.

Subway Series Continues Tonight...
The Yankees improve to 75 and 48…eight games in front of Tampa for first place in the A.L. East…8-and-a-half games ahead of Toronto. The Mets drop to 79 and 45…three games in front of Atlanta for first place in the N.L. East. The Yankees and Mets battle it out again in the Bronx this evening at seven o’clock. Taijuan Walker is scheduled to be on the mound for the Mets…Frankie Montas is on the hill for the Yankees.

Philles Defeat Reds
The Phillies defeated the Reds…4 to 1. Noah Syndergaard was dealing for the Phillies as Syndegaard threw seven innings and gave up just the one run…he receives the win. Nick Castellanos and Bryson Stott each homered for the Phillies in the victory. The Phils, at 67 and 55, are tied with the Padres for the second, N.L., Wild Card spot.

Knicks Back In On Mitchell Trade Talks
Word on the street is that the Knicks trade talks with the Utah Jazz for superstar Donovan Mitchell are back on. The Knicks most recently reportedly offered very good young player Obi Toppin, skilled veteran shooter Evan Fournier, and FIVE first-round picks for Mitchell. It’s a lot but I think the Knicks HAVE to do this deal. Mitchell averaged 25 points and 5 assists a game last year for the Jazz…he’s a bonafide superstar…and maybe most importantly…he grew up in New York and has wanted to be a Knicks his entire life! Make the trade, Dolan!

Jets Come Back On Falcons
Over to football where the Jets were in action last night. And it was a big comeback for the Jets who were down 16 to nothing to the Falcons and came back to beat Atlanta…24 to 16. Jet QB Mike White was 12 for 17 for 90 yards. Hey, the Jets and Giants are now both 2 and 0 in the preseason.

Brady May Have Missed Practice Due To Singing
Tom Brady returned to Buccaneers practice after an 11-day personal break and shot down rumors that he was gone to tape The Masked Singer. Brady on THAT show? Oh, my! With all due respect…isn’t The Masked Singer a little beneath Brady? I rank it as at least the fourth best singing show out there (behind The Voice, American Idol, and America’s Got Talent). Come on, Tom! You haven’t become a seven-time Super Bowl champion by going on second tier shows! BAD IDEA!
