Let’s start with baseball…where it was a BAD weekend for the Yankees.   The Yanks lost to the Cardinals yesterday…12 to 9…as the Yanks end up getting swept by St. Louis.   Yankee manager Aaron Boone was ejected in the contest.   Yankee pitching coach Matt Blake was also kicked out.   The Yankees have now lost FIVE in a row (for the first time all season) and, at 70 and 39, only lead the Astros by a half game for the best record in the American League.

Meanwhile, the Mets took down the Braves….5 to 2.   Jacob deGrom looked dominant on the mound as the Met ace looks to be fully back.   DeGrom threw five and two-thirds inning, striking out 12, while giving up just the two runs.   He picks up the win.   The Mets are 70 and 39 and they now lead the Braves by six-and-a-half games in the A.L. East.

The Phillies crushed the Nationals…13 to 1.   The Phils had thirteen hits to go with their 13 runs in this dominant offensive performance.   The Phillies are now 60 and 48 are in the second National League Wild Card spot.

Football.   Reports are that the Giants’ Saquon Barkley has been highly impressive in training camp.   New Giant head coach Brian Daboll says that Barkley “explosive” and that Barkley will be a big weapon in offense.

In Jets camp, word is that the Jets are looking for more offensive line help…and have invited veteran free agent Duane Brown to try out for the team.

With the Eagles, rumor has it that the Eagles are looking for a running back and possibly interested in Raiders running back Josh Jacobs.

Basketball.   According to NBA sources, the Knicks are once again talking to the Jazz about acquiring their star guard Donovan Mitchell.   Apparently Utah would like Knicks wing man Quentin Grimes but the Knicks are hesitant to trade the 22-year-old shooter.

NASCAR.   Kevin Harvick won at Michigan International Speedway yesterday.   The victory ends Harvick’s 65-race winless streak that lasted nearly two years.   Harvick’s last victory had been September 19th, 2020 at Bristol Motor Speedway.

And finally soccer.   Tabloids are reporting that international star Cristiano Ronaldo has been getting botox injections…on his…private area.   I don’t make the news, folks.   I just report it.   Sadly.
