The ASPCA has a number of recommendations to take to help keep your pets safe during the Halloween season. Here are four tips to consider.

Hide the Treats: If you suspect your pet has ingested something toxic (like chocolate), please call your veterinarian or the ASPCA Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435 immediately.

Watch the Decorations: If you’re making jack o’ lanterns and plan on using real candles to light them, a fire could quickly start if your pet accidentally knocks it over.

Make Sure Wires are Out of Reach: This is a good tip all year round, but it never hurts to mention it.

Be Careful With Their Costumes: If your pets do not like wearing costumes, the ASPCA recommends not dressing them up.
