For this story, I decided to have my family paint some pumpkins to tell the story first hand and it was a fun night for sure although a bit messy.

I made sure that my nephew — who is an artist, as you’ll see —  got the biggest pumpkin to paint and told him to paint what he wanted. He’s a big Batman guy and has been the Joker for Halloween more years in a row than I can count, so naturally, he picked The Joker.

I filmed him painting his favorite clown in a two-minute step by step video so anyone can do it.

My kids painted as well and as anyone can see, it’s quite easy to paint pumpkins, all you really need is a bunch of paint, a pumpkin and some imagination.

  Creating the Joker pumpkin - all that's needed is a great picture of Batman's nemesis, some creativity, a little drawing skill and some Acrylic and Metallic paint and some paint pens.

  The Kool-Aid Man painted pumpkin created by my 13-year old son. Lots of red paint, a little black and some patience and a blow dryer to get the paint to dry.

  My daughter the dog lover painted her three Great Danes from behind on her pumpkin getting all their spots just right. It took acrylic paint pens and a lot of love.

  A fun and simple painting on a small pumpkin with a lot of white paint and a bunch of bright colors. Anyone can do this.

  A black painted pumpkin takes on new life when some spider webs and spiders are painted on it. Note that with painting pumpkins the paint does chip rather quickly so adding some glaze spray paint can shine it up.
