…The Yankees won again last night as the Yanks beat the Marlins…3 to 2. Yankee starter Carlos Rodon looked great as he pitched six shutout innings to pick up the win. Rodon has pitched well this year with a 1.72 ERA. Alex Verdugo hit a solo home run for the Yankees in the victory.

The Yankees now start their season 10 and 2 for just the 4th time in franchise history (1923, 1949, 2003)…and each other time they did…they won the American League Pennant. And, my Lord, look at the teams we’re talking about. On the 1923 team, you’re talking about a guy named Babe Freakin’ Ruth.

Great all-round baseball player, Babe Ruth (George Herman Ruth, 1895 – 1948) shakes hands with the 29th President of the USA, Warren Harding. After the handshake Babe Ruth hit a home run to help his team, the New York Yankees win the third game of the series with the Wash.
The 1949 Yankees had Hall Of Famers galore. Yogi Berra, Phil Rizzuto, and, of course, the great Joe DiMaggio were all on that team. They would go on to win the World Series.

And the 2003 Yankee team was the one that beat the Boston Red Sox in the 7th game of the American League Championship Series in one of the greatest MLB postseason games of all time. And, oh yeah, who was the guy who hit the game-winning home run in extra innings? Oh, that’s right…current Yankee manager Aaron Boone!

The bottom line is that the Yanks are playing superb baseball right now. We’ll see if this holds up for the rest of the season…but right now…the Bronx Bombers are looking seriously GOOD. I’m Davey Mac…now on to the rest of the Sports Report!
