Yankees Beat Astros On Opening Day As Juan Soto Stars

Good morning, Sports fans!  Davey Mac here with another huge Sports Report for ya on a Friday!  Sweet 16 results!  NBA and NHL recap!  Jets owner in the news!  And baseball is BACK!  YES!

So, let’s start with Major League Baseball…where it was a great afternoon for the Yankees yesterday as the Yanks beat the Astros in dramatic fashion…Yankees 5…Houston 4.  The Yankees were down 4 to nothing in the 5th inning when new superstar Juan Soto drove home the first run for the Bombers with a line drive single…starting a three-run inning.  Soto also walked twice.

Oswaldo Cabrera then tied the game at 4 to 4 in the 6th inning with a clutch solo home run.  That was followed by a sacrifice fly by Alex Verdugo which put the Yanks up, 5 to 4.

And most importantly…Soto threw out what would have been the tying run in the 9th inning at home plate…saving the Yankees’ day.  So it was a fantastic day for Juan Soto and excellent Opening Day win for the Yankees…who will play the Astros again tonight at 8 PM.

Mets & Phillies Begin Their Seasons Today

Now the Mets and Phillies had their Opening Days rained out…but both teams are in action today. So this afternoon at 1:40, the Mets take on the Brewers at Citi Field. Jose Quintana is the probable starter for the Mets.

At 3 PM, the Phillies go against the Braves in Philadelphia. Zack Wheeler gets the start for the Phils against Atlanta.

NBA Tonight

Over to basketball.  The Knicks, Nets, and 76’ers were all inactive yesterday.  Tonight the Knicks take on the Spurs in San Antonio.  The Knicks come into the game 44 and 28…all the way to 3rd in the Eastern Conference.

The Nets match up against the Bulls at the Barclays Center.  Brooklyn is 28 and 45.

The 76’ers play the Cavaliers in Cleveland.  The Sixers are 39 and 34.

March Madness Results

March Madness…Number One-seeded North Carolina was upset by Alabama yesterday in the Sweet 16.  Clemson, Illinois, and Danny Hurley’s UCONN all won their matchups.

Hockey.   The Rangers beat the Avalanche last night…3 to 2.
