PHOENIX, ARIZONA – DECEMBER 12: Draymond Green #23 of the Golden State Warriors reacts after being ejected for a flagrant foul during the second half of the NBA game against the Phoenix Suns at Footprint Center on December 12, 2023 in Phoenix, Arizona. ESPN is reporting that Green has been suspended indefinitely, for his, quote, “repeated history of unsportsmanlike acts.” On Tuesday night, Green was ejected from a game for hitting Phoenix Suns center Jusuf Nurkic in the face. Nurkic went down hard…and Draymond was immediately ejected. And now…he’s suspended.

This is really bad timing as Draymond was just suspended for five games last month for putting Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in a chokehold. And just last year Draymond was suspended by the team for punching his own teammate in the face. Here’s the video of the recent play between Draymond and Nurkic which got Green suspended. While Draymond tried saying it was inadvertent…it looks pretty intentional.
Meanwhile, Nurkic and Devon Booker talked about the incident after the game. Nurkic said he was glad that Draymond didn’t choke him…referencing the incident Draymond had earlier in the season with the T-Wolves’ Rudy Gobert. Ouch.
Suns superstar Kevin Durant also commented on Draymond, saying he hopes Draymond “gets the help he needs.” Not a good look for Draymond when elite players like Durant are talking like that.
Of course, NBA Twitter is having a field day with this one. People are posting a sort of “greatest hits” video documenting Draymond’s dirtiest plays while others are comparing Draymond to WWE superstars and martial arts experts…
In any event, this indefinite suspension is very alarming. There is no timetable for when Draymond will be allowed to play again…and that will seriously hurt Steph Curry and the Warriors’ chances of capturing a fifth NBA title. Draymond is going to the Hall Of Fame as rebounder-defender-enforcer for the Golden State Warriors…the man’s a 4-time NBA Champion…but, man, this one is going to hurt his legacy. We’ll see what happens. Now on to the Scoreboard!
