Chili dogs in New Jersey are a dime a dozen. But which places standout? North Jersey is the king of hot dog joints and most of them offer chili dogs. I’ve heard people call South Jersey a hot dog wasteland, including John Fox.
John is an ambassador to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council and Co-founder of Hot Dog Nation. In a previous article John said,” I’ve been to close to 200 Hot Dog establishments. South Jersey for the most part is a hot dog wasteland. However, arguably the best hot dog in the state is served at Maui’s in Wildwood. Their brand is Hofmann’s German hot dog; a pork, beef, and veal blend and the best hot dog in my opinion.
Sorry John, I disagree about South Jersey being a hot dog wasteland. It may not be as prominent as North Jersey, but it’s got quite a few good places to grab a good hot dog.
I used to hit up a hot dog wagon in Tuckerton that has one of the best Sabrett chili dogs around. They’re called The Country Dog. Located at 312 E Main St, Tuckerton, NJ 08087. I haven’t been down that way lately, not sure if they’re still there.
