Good morning, Sports fans! It’s your friend Davey Mac here and I’ve got an excellent and action-packed Sports Report for ya on a Monday! We’ve got baseball scores from yesterday, hockey matchups for this evening, a weird football story, and a look at who won the Masters. But first…
We are Starting With the Knicks
And that’s because the New York Knicks won their 50th game of the year and secured the Number 2 spot in the Eastern Conference with an exciting 120 to 119 win over the Chicago Bulls in overtime of the final game of the regular season. Knicks superstar Jalen Brunson, who should absolutely get MVP votes, had 40 points, 8 rebounds, and 7 assists in the finale. The Knicks will now take on the winner of the 76’ers Vs. Heat play-in matchup. But now they will get a home-court advantage for the first TWO rounds! Awesome!
Meanwhile, The 76’ers defeated the Nets…107 to 86. Tobias Harris had 21 points and 8 rebounds for Philly in the win. Now, the 76ers will play the Heat on Wednesday in Philadelphia for the play-in game. It’s different as it’s a one-and-done game…as opposed to the two outta three formats that they were going with. And the winner plays the Knicks in the First Round of the NBA Playoffs!
And that means that the Knicks will have to face Joel Embiid in the First Round…which is a problem. While Embiid missed 40-plus games with an injury…he is back. And Embiid, the reigning MVP, is a dominant force that can completely take over the game. The Knicks don’t have a big man who can match up with him…so it does make me a little nervous.
Nevertheless…we’ll cross the bridge when we come to it. Hell…the Knicks may miss Embiid totally if the Heat win. But no matter who they play…Madison Square Garden is gonna be LIT. THis Knicks team has captured the heart of b-ball fans in this area. I’m Davey Mac…now on to the rest of the Sports Report!
