  • Yankees Lose In Boston

Let’s start with baseball….where the Yankees were shut out by the Red Sox last night…three to nothing. The Yankees end up losing two outta three in Boston as the Yanks are really struggling right now…2 and 8 in their last ten. The Yankees, at 72 and 43, are still TEN games over the Blue Jays for first place in the A.L. East…so the division is still pretty secure…but they now trail the Astros by two games in the loss column for the best record in the American League.

  • Mets Take Down Phillies

Meanwhile, the Mets shut out the Phillies behind excellent pitching from starter Chris Bassitt and the Met bullpen…six to nothing.   Bassitt went five innings…giving up no runs…while striking out five…he picks up the win.   Daniel Vogelbach slugged his 15th home run of the year for the Mets…who at 75 and 40…are five-and-a-half games in front of the Braves for first place in the N.L. East.   The Phillies are currently in the third N.L. Wild Card spot.

  • Tatis Suspended!

Another baseball story.   San Diego Padre megastar, Fernando Tatis Jr., has been suspended for 80 games over a positive PED test. The amazing shortstop tested positive for Clostebol, a performance-enhancing substance.   The Padres, meanwhile, said in a statement that they were “surprised and extremely disappointed” to learn of the positive test.

  • Zach Wilson Injured!

Over to football…where the preseason is fully underway.   On Friday night, the Jets beat the Eagles…24 to 21…but the big story is that Jet quarterback Zach Wilson injured his knee in the first quarter and will have to miss time.   Wilson is expected to miss anywhere from two to four weeks…so all is not lost.   Wilson will miss the final two Jet preseason games against the Falcons and Giants.
