The Morning Rat Race

Good morning, Sports fans! Davey Mac back with your final Sports Report of the week! Giants Vs. Jets! Kobe Bryant news! And more! But first!

We were wondering if the Yankees could win TWO games in a row…and they could not. The Yankees lost to the Nationals…6 to 5…despite Aaron Judge slugging his 28th home run of the year. So, the Yankees failed to win back-to-back games and dropped to 61 and 66 for this disastrous season. They’ve lost 10 of their last 11 games.

Listen…and it’s not beating a dead horse if the horse is still alive…I ask again…why does general manager Brian Cashman still have a job directing the baseball direction of this once-proud organization? This is Cashman’s roster…it is his responsibility.

Toronto Blue Jays v New York Yankees

Think about the Josh Donaldson trade.   It has recently been revealed that Donaldson was looked at as “toxic” by his Twins teammates before the Yankees traded for him…even though Cashman was aware that Donaldson was disliked!   Then, he comes to the Yankees…and is a BUST.   On the field and in the locker room.   Awful.

New York Yankees v Boston Red Sox - Game Two

Think Aaron Hicks.   Brian Cashman gave this journeyman a contract a seven-year deal worth $70 million. In the last five seasons with the Yankees…Hicks hit .235, .194, .216, and .188…with 12, 6, 4, 8, and 1 home runs respectively in each year. Does that sound like a $70 million man to you?

Think Joey Gallo.  Gallo was historically bad for the Yankees. With the Yankees, Gallo hit .160 in 2021 and .159 in 2022 before finally getting traded to the L.A. Dodgers due to fan outcry. He is now on the Twins.  Why did Cashman go for this guy? Who on Earth was asking for Gallo to be on the Yankees?   It’s another example of Cashman thinking he’s outsmarted the game.

The bottom line is that a win here and a win there will not save this miserable Yankee season. The team is in last place and ten games out of the third and final, American League, Wild Card spot.   If the Yankees fail to make the postseason…Hal Steinbrenner needs to step up and clean house…and it starts with Brian Cashman! Send a message, Hal…do it NOW!   Let the loyal Yankee fanbase that this terrible year is totally unacceptable and get Cashman outta here already!   I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents!
