Good morning, Sports fans! Davey Mac here with another action-packed Sports Report for ya this morning! We’ve got some baseball hot stove talk today with the Yankees and Mets! NBA and NHL scores and matchups! And an update on the Patrick Mahomes-losing-his-cool story! But first…
…As reported by The New York Post, legendary sportscaster Al Michaels has been sidelined by NBC for all three of their NFL playoff games this year. Instead, Mike Tirico and Cris Collinsworth will call two of the games…and college announcers Noah Eagle and Todd Blackledge will broadcast the other game. Which means Michaels is out.

BEVERLY HILLS, CA – AUGUST 13: (L-R) Coordinating producer Fred Gaudelli, play-by-play announcer Al Michaels and analyst Cris Collinsworth speak onstage during NBC’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ panel discussion at the NBCUniversal portion of the 2015 Summer TCA Tour at The Beverly Hilton Hotel on August 13, 2015 in Beverly Hills, California.
I gotta tell ya…this is pretty surprising. I mean…this is Al Michael we’re talking about. Sure…the guy is 79…but I still think he’s a top-notch broadcaster. While some people have criticized Al for not having a ton of enthusiasm this year…in all honesty…the Thursday Night Football games that he’s broadcasted on Prime Video have usually been pretty bad. It’s hard to get excited when you’re calling a 13 to 10 games every week.

Now…for the record…I’m a huge Mike Tirico fan. I think he’s been an underrated and excellent sportscaster. From his Kentucky Derby coverage…to his golf reporting…and football announcing…Tirico is a solid pro. So, it’s no critique of Tirico. I’m just saying…NBC has three playoff games…they can’t give good ol’ Al one of those games?!

Let’s not forget…this is Al Michaels…”Do you believe in miracles” Al Michaels. “Norwood wide right” Al Michaels. Crazy. Here’s hoping Al gets one last shot to call a meaningful postseason NFL game in the near future. I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents…now on to the Scoreboard!
