Good morning, Sports fans! Davey Mac here with another exciting Sports Report for ya! We’ve got a look at NASCAR, baseball, hockey, and a crazy football story. But first!
In case you missed it, the NBA All-Star weekend happened these past few days. The Eastern Conference beat the Western Conference…ready for this…211 to 186. The Milwaukee Bucks’ Damian Lillard was named the MVP after scoring 39 points. Lillard also won the three-point contest.
The Orlando Magic’s Mac McClung won the dunk contest for the second year in a row. Though McClung does not see a ton of action in games…he certainly he is a dunking star. McClung now becomes just the fifth competitor to win the dunk contest in back-to-back years. Michael Jordan, Jason Richardson, Nate Robinson, and Zach LaVine also accomplished that feat.
Maybe the highlight of the entire weekend was Golden State Warriors legend Steph Curry taking on New York Liberty star Sabrina Ionescu in a three-point contest. It was the first time an NBA player took on a WNBA player in the event. Sabrina shot wonderfully…scoring 26 points in her round (which would have been tied for first in the men’s three-point contest). But Curry came on strong and hit shot after shot at the end of his round to put up a winning 29 points. Really cool event.
All in all…I thought it was a great weekend of basketball action. Yes, the game itself is kinds crazy to watch because I’ve seen more defense at NFL Pro Bowl games. But regardless, it’s a fun weekend to watch. I’m Davey Mac…now on to the rest of the Report!
