Good morning, Sports fans! We’ve got another thrilling Sports Report for ya! All kinds of action including football, basketball, and hockey! But first! How about a little hot stove baseball talk!
And we’ve got some breaking news as ESPN is reporting that the Mets will hire long-time Yankee coach Carlos Mendoza as their new manager…which would be a surprising pick to many!

It’s no disrespect to Mendoza. But he has been in the Yankee system for the past fifteen years…and some Mets fans are rubbed the wrong way by that fact. Mendoza started as a Minor League coach…before working his way to become the infield coach of the Major League squad in 2017. Then, in 2019, he became manager Aaron Boone’s bench coach (which is his job currently).

Regardless…Mendoza would be taking over for a fired Buck Showalter who struggled this year…however he did win over 100 games in 2021. So the pressure would be on for Mendoza big-time.

We’ll see what happens…but this is a pretty interesting move by the Mets…certainly it is unexpected. There are some veteran managers out there like Joe Maddon (who won a World Series with the Cubs in 2016)…going with a rookie manager could be a little risky. Anyway…I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents! Now on to the Scoreboard!
