Good morning, Sports fans! It’s your athletics ambassador Davey Mac here and we’ve got an excellent and exciting Sports Report for ya on a Friday! We’ve got NBA scores, the Devils and Rangers have good nights, an update on the Ohtani scandal, and more! But first!
The First Round of March Madness kicked off yesterday and two stories of note: 14-seeded Oakland shocked 3-seed Kentucky…80 to 76. Oakland’s Jack Gohlke became an instant legend as he hit 10 three-pointers to lead Oakland to the upset! That’s what so great about this tournament…for one night…Gohlke was The Man…a national superstar resembled Michael Jordan than the five-year, 24-year-old senior that he is,
The other game people are talking about is Dayton (7) was trailing Nevada (10) by 17 points with 7 minutes to go when they made a furious comeback and ended up winning the game…63 to 60. Nevada has to be sick to their stomach…they had a win (and upset) in their hand but just could not finish the game out. Man, that’s gotta sting.
Today, Jersey City’s Dan Hurley leads UCONN in their matchup against Stetson. UCONN is looking to become back-to-back Champions. Hurley has simply done a tremendous job with the Huskies. They have looked as impressive this year as they did last season (when they won the NCAA Championship). Hoping that Danny (who graduated Seton Hall as a star player) continues to bring success to UCONN.
Anyway, it was a great first, full day for the tournament….and guess what? We get another whole day of First Round matches today! So get a sub, a bag of chips, a nice beverage…and enjoy some College Hoops action! I’m Davey Mac…now on to the rest of the Sports Report!
