Good morning, Sports fans!  Davey Mac here with a Super Bowl edition of the Sports Report for ya!  And we’re getting into the stats of the game itself!  Super Bowl LVIII is nearly upon us and you should check some of these stats out…especially if you’re putting some money on the game!  So let’s look at the numbers of Big Game:

Divisional Round - Indianapolis Colts v Kansas City Chiefs

1.  Six:  Number of Super Bowl appearances by the Kansas City Chiefs, counting this year’s game.  (3 wins.)

2.  Eight:  Number of Super Bowl appearances by the San Francisco 49ers.  (5 wins.)

3.  One:  Previous Super Bowl meeting between Chiefs and Niners.  Super Bowl 54 . . . Chiefs won 31 to 20.

4.  71,835:  Number of fans expected at Allegiant Stadium.

5.  $1.1 billion:  Expected boost to the local economy.

6.  $275:  Projected spending per Super Bowl tourist on food and drinks over four days.

8.  $10,752:  Average price of a ticket on the resale market.

10.  35%:  Percentage of people who say they’d give up drinking for a year to attend the Super Bowl in person.

11.  14:  Number of people who attend the average Super Bowl party.

12.  112.2 million:  Number of people who will either throw or attend a Super Bowl party.

13.  1.45 billion:  Number of chicken wings that will be eaten.  Also, 10 million pounds of ribs, 11.3 million pounds of potato chips, and 250 million pounds of avocados.

14.  35%:  Increase in pizza orders.

15.  50 million cases:  Amount of beer sold.

16.  90%:  How much more beer is consumed on Super Bowl Sunday than the average day.

17.  18.8 million:  Number of people who will miss work the day after the game, resulting in $9.2 billion in lost productivity.

18.  $1.3 billion:  Amount that will be legally wagered on the game.

Super Bowl LVIII - Previews

  • NBA Recap--Knicks Make A Trade

    We start with basketball…where the short-handed Knicks lost to the Mavericks last night…122 to 108.  Dallas’ Luka Doncic scored 39 points.  The Knicks were without Jalen Brunson who is dealing with an ankle sprain…and also Julius Randle and OG Anunoby are still out.  So, the Knicks fall to 33 and 19.

    The Nets fell to the Cavs…118 to 95.

    The 76’ers were inactive.  They take on the Hawks tonight in Philly.

    Back to the Knicks as they made a big trade yesterday.  The Knicks acquired Bojan Bogdanovic and Alec Burks from the Detroit Pistons in exchange for guards Evan Fournier, Quentin Grimes, Malachi Flynn and Ryan Arcidiacono and two second-round picks.  Good trade for the Knicks!

  • Devils Lose To Calgary

    The Devils lost to the Flames…5 to 3.  The Devils drop to 25-21-3 for the season.

    The Flyers beat the Jets…4 to 1.  The Flyers improve to 27-19-6 on the year.

    The Rangers were off.  They face the Blackhawks tonight in Chicago.  The Rangers are 32-16-3.

  • Bo Jackson Wins Court Case

    Former baseball and football star Bo Jackson has won a $21 million verdict in his civil case against his niece and nephew for attempting to blackmail him.  The lawsuit stated that Bo Jackson’s relatives tried to extort $20 million from him through harassment and intimidation.  Glad Bo won the case.

  • Lamar Jackson Wins MVP

    Football. Lamar Jackson was named the NFL MVP yesterday for the second time in his great career.  At 27 years of age, Jackson is now the youngest two-time NFL MVP ever.

  • Super Bowl Poll

    According to a poll of over 10,000 adults, 39% don’t know who will win.  A hopeful 35% say Chiefs, and 26% say 49ers.  As for me?  The Dave Man is going with the Chiefs…31 to 30!
