Good morning, Sports fans!  Davey Mac after a three-day weekend with a big-time Sports Report for ya!  And I mean BIG-time!  Zach Wilson surprises many!  Big trade in the NBA!  Mets make a big change!  And more!  But first…

…This is some fun stuff right here.  A massive Eli Manning fan was in traffic with his friends when they spotted Eli himself in the car behind him!  So, the guy got out of his car to show Eli his jersey…and the two exchanged knucks in the road!  Check this out!

I gotta tell ya…is there anybody better than Eli?  Sure…I’m subjective…I’m a massive Giants fan myself and Eli is my favorite player of all time.  But, would I really run out into traffic like a mad man in a crazy attempt to give him knucks?  HELL YEAH, I would!  Eli rules!

Super Bowl XLVI

A similar thing actually did happen to me in the late ’80’s when I was a kid.  We were in New York City for some reason and when I looked over at a traffic light I saw tennis great Boris Becker in a sports car.  I exclaimed to my mom, “That’s Boris Becker!  Can I get his autograph?!”  But, mother denied me the opportunity of running out into Manhattan traffic at the age of 10.  Probably a wise decision on mom’s part.

Nevertheless…good on Eli.  He continues to be one of the most humble and coolest superstars in sports history.  I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents…and now on to the Scoreboard!

  • Jets Lose To Chiefs Despite Zach Playing Well

Let’s start with football…where the Jets just fell short in their comeback against the Chiefs as Kansas City defeated Gang Green on Sunday Night Football…23 to 20.  Zach Wilson completed a career-high 28 passes on 39 attempts for 245 yards and two touchdowns with no interceptions while posting a career-high 105.2 passer rating.  Meanwhile, Patrick Mahomes looked normal…but the Chiefs were able to squeak by on 115 rushing yards and a touchdowns from running back Isiah Pacheco.  The Jets drop to 1 and 3.  The Chiefs improve to 3 and 1.

Tonight…the Giants take on the Seahawks at MetLife Stadium for a Monday Night Football matchup.  The Giants come in to the game at 1 and 2.  Seattle is 2 and 1.  Kickoff is set for 8:15.  I know I’ll be watching the Manning Cast for this one!

  • Mets Fire Showalter

Over to baseball…where we have breaking news out of the Mets organization as the Mets have fired manager Buck Showalter…just two years after winning National League Manager of the Year.  The Mets are 74 and 87…with their final game scheduled today because of a rain delay.  Insane…Buck and the Mets were 101 and 61 last season…and one year later he’s gone.

  • Phillies Crush Mets

The Phillies ended up beating the Mets in Buck’s last game…9 to 1.  Brandon Marsh hit his 12th home run of the year in the game…and Alec Bohm slugged his 20th homer.  The Phils are going to the MLB postseason.  The Mets will not be.

  • Yankees Lose In Season Finale

The Yankees lost to the Royals in their last game of the year…5 to 2.  The Yankees will finish at 82 and 80 and will miss the playoffs for the first time since 2016.  We’ll see if any heads roll in the organization.  Yankee owner Hal Steinbrenner says the team will have a thorough investigation into the analytics department and front office of the team.  General Manager Brian Cashman and manager Aaron Boone will probably be a little worries over these next couple of weeks.

  • Celtics Acquire Holiday

Lastly…basketball…as the Celtics just got better by trading for All Star guard Jrue Holiday of the Trail Blazers (after playing this past season with the Bucks).  Boston sends center Robert Williams III and guard Malcolm Brogdon to Portland for Holiday.
