Good morning, Sports fans!  It’s your buddy Davey Mac here with the last Sports Report of the week before a big, three-day, Labor Day weekend!  We’ve got smack talk between the Giants and Jets!  Yankee rookie does something historic!  U.S. tennis player retires!  But first!  Did you see the latest episode of HBO’s amazing football docuseries Hard Knocks?

Well, if you missed it…don’t worry…I’ve got the coolest clip that Hard Knocks has done in years.  They recreated the iconic opening of The Sopranos and inserted head coach Robert Saleh in the car in the Tony Soprano role.  And, even though I’m a Giants fan, it was straight-up awesome.  Check out the video below.

How cool was that?  My only question is…if Robert Saleh is Tony…who is Aaron Rodgers?  Would he be Silvio?  A consigliere of sorts?  Or is that one of the coordinators?  Maybe Rodgers is more like a capo…like a Richie Aprile or Ralph Cifaretto?  Maybe Rodgers is similar to Christopher Moltisante…close to the boss…but strong with his own opinions.  It’s tricky!

In any event…how rad was that clip?  I gotta give credit to HBO…it consistently is the best-produced sports series on television.  Period.  They bring you closer to the action more than any other show…and their cinematic qualities are off the charts.  It is truly incredible.  And to utilize another HBO property with The Sopranos in this cool manner is something else…I think Tony S. would be proud.

Now all the Jets have to do is go out and win the Super Bowl!  That’d be like Tony finally getting control of Jersey over Uncle Junior!  Or would it be Tony getting one over on cross-town rival Johnny Sack?  All I know is that Rodgers better not go to Holsten’s Diner if you know what I’m saying!  I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents!  Now on to the Scoreboard!

  • Yankees Lose But Volpe Gets 20-20

Let’s start with baseball…where the Yankees lost to the Tigers…4 to 3.  The one good thing to happen though…Yankee shortstop Anthony Volpe hit a home run…and in doing so…Volpe becomes the first rookie in Yankee history to have a 20-20 season…at least twenty home runs and twenty stolen bases.  So, that’s pretty cool…congrats, Anthony.  Still, the Yankees drop to 65 and 69.
