Good morning, Sports fans and appreciators of athletics! It’s your boy Davey Mac here back with a big Sports Report for ya! We have all kinds of action going on…but first! Breaking news outta the NFL!
The New York Giants and quarterback Daniel Jones have finally agreed to a new deal. Jones will get a four-year contract worth $160 million. Eighty-two million is guaranteed money…and Jones also has $35 million he can add in incentives. It’s a lot of cash…maybe too much, in fact…but it will at least give the Giants stability going forward.
Now where does this put star running back Saquon Barkley? Well, the Giants have turned around and placed the nonexclusive franchise tag on Saquon Barkley. Saquon will make $10.091 million next season…it also means that should Saquon choose…he can negotiate with other teams for a new deal…but the Giants have the right to match it. Giants general manager Joe Schoen describes the Giants as “pleased.”
In any event…this seems to be good news for Giants fans. The G-Men get their quarterback for the foreseeable future…a QB that helped lead them to the playoffs this year. And, for now, they have Saquon. The latter is extremely important, though. Schoen needs to continue to negotiate with Saquon and make him happy, too. Without Barkley, Jones numbers were just average (if not a little below average). But with Saquon, Daniel was a much more productive quarterback. All in all…things look pretty positive for the G-Men this year! I’m Davey Mac…that’s my Sports Two Cents!
