Good morning, Sports fans!   Davey Mac here with a fun Sports Report for ya!   The MLB All Star Game was last night!   American plays in Wimbledon today!   A’s leaving Oakland!   And more!   But first!

Well…the Yankees are really struggling.   It’s the midway point of the MLB regular season and currently the Yanks are in a very disappointing 4th place in the American League East.   The team has just fired their hitting coach…and word is that other changes could be made.   So IF Yankee manager Aaron Boone loses his job…who should replace him?   Here are my Top 5 Candidates!

Don Mattingly

The former Yankee MVP is currently without a manager’s job…despite winning Manager Of The Year in 2020 with the Marlins…and leading the Dodgers to three straight postseason appearances for the first time in franchise history.   Donnie Baseball is beloved by Yankee fans…and seems like a perfect fit.

Paul O’Neill

Paul O’Neill was dubbed “The Warrior” by late Yankees owner George Steinbrenner for his tenacious competitive drive.   O’Neill could bring some much-needed fire to this lackadaisical team.

Toronto Blue Jays v New York Yankees

Willie Randolph

The former Yankee great was a bench coach for the Yankees under Hall Of Fame skipper Joe Torre.   Willie also led the Mets to the playoffs and is considered an extremely bright baseball guy.

Joe Torre

Hey, speaking of Joe Torre, why not throw his hat into the ring?   I know it sounds crazy…the former manager of the Yankees (who won 4 World Series with them) is 82…I get it.   But hell…the Yankees brought Billy Martin back like five times…why not bring back Good Ol’ Joe!

Derek Jeter

Come on, man.   He’s out there.   Like Mattingly, Derek Jeter just left the Miami Marlins organization and is simply working for Fox Sports.   But you know he still has a fire for the game.   Let’s go, Jeets!

Baltimore Orioles v New York Yankees

Those are just my thoughts!   You got any one you’d like to see as manager?   I’m Davey Mac…and that’s my two cents!

  • N.L. Defeats A.L. In MLB All Star Game

Major League Baseball had its annual All Star Game last night…and the National League beat the American League…3 to 2.   Good game.    Colorado Rockies catcher Elias Diaz hit go-ahead two-run home run in the eighth inning that propelled the N.L. to victory.   Diaz was named the MVP.   The win breaks a nine-game losing streak that the N.L. had to the A.L…though the American League still holds the overall record of 47-44-2.

  • Two New NBA Rules Changes

The NBA and Commissioner Adam Silver have approved two rule changes that will go into effect next season.   The first rule change is that coaches will get a second coach’s challenge if the first one is successful.   The second rule change is a flopping penalty.   I like the rule about flopping…as it’s been a bit of an issue for a while now.   This ain’t soccer!   Stop acting!
