Good morning, Sports fans! Davey Mac here and I’ve got a plus-sized Sports Report for ya! Lots of going on with the NBA and NHL! Hot stove talk with the Mets! And more! But first…
…Well, the Super Bowl ratings are in…and we have a smash hit on our hands. According to an ESPN report from Nielson and Adobe Analytics, Super Bowl LVIII is now the most-watched program in television history. The game, which saw the Kansas City Chiefs defeat the San Francisco 49’ers in Overtime (25 to 22) averaged 123.4 million on TV alone…but after streaming service and online viewing is added…the audience who viewed the Big Game on Sunday is actually 202 million people!
The TV rating shattered last year’s mark of 115.1 million viewers for the Chiefs Vs. Eagles Super Bowl. The game was shown on CBS and Nickelodeon on television…and also Paramount+ and NFL streaming services.
Now, while some are saying the Taylor Swift – Travis Kelce showmance brought a ton of eyeballs to the screen…and that may be true…they can’t account for such a huge increase in viewership. In my opinion, it just goes to show you how absolutely MASSIVE the Super Bowl and the NFL are. Incredible.
In any event…it’s a remarkable rating for a fantastic game. Super Bowl LVIII will do in the books as one of the best ever. Congrats to the Chiefs…I’m Davey Mac…now on to the rest of the Sports Report!
