The Morning Rat Race

NEW YORK, NEW YORK - OCTOBER 08: A cosplayer dressed as Martian during New York Comic Con 2022 on October 08, 2022 in New York City.

Good morning, Sports fans!  Davey Mac here with a fun Sports Report for ya today!  Basketball, baseball, football, and hockey all in the news.  But first!  Are you ready for some football?!  Specifically…are you ready for some Super Bowl?!  I know I am!

Super Bowl LVIII - Previews

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – JANUARY 30: Signage for Super Bowl LVIII is displayed on a pedestrian bridge on the Las Vegas Strip on January 30, 2024 in Las Vegas, Nevada. The game will be played on February 11, 2024, between the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium.

And specifically…I’m all for gambling on the Super Bowl!  So let’s look at some of the prop bets that sportsbooks have released!  There’s a 0.1 percent chance that aliens will invade Las Vegas (where the Super Bowl is being held)…leading to the game ending in a tie.  So, if you put cash on extraterrestrials to land at the Super Bowl…you can win BIG money!

Lucerne Carnival 2020

LUCERNE, SWITZERLAND – FEBRUARY 20: Revellers in extraterrestrial costumes celebrate during the carnival parade (Fritschi Umzug) on February 20, 2020 in Lucerne, Switzerland. Lucerne Carnival (Fasnacht) will be held in Lucerne February 20 – 24. It is the biggest event in Central Switzerland, taking place annually in February or March.

Another interesting bet is that you can bet on the Chiefs winning the game…and then Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift announce they’re expecting a baby.  That’s 4.8 percent likely.  You’ll make a ton of money if you take this bet and it comes true!

AFC Championship - Kansas City Chiefs v Baltimore Ravens

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – JANUARY 28: Travis Kelce #87 of the Kansas City Chiefs (L) celebrates with Taylor Swift after defeating the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game at M&T Bank Stadium on January 28, 2024 in Baltimore, Maryland.

How likely do you think it is that the Niners will be leading at the half, then Usher will invite Taylor onstage during the Halftime Show . . . where she performs “Shake It Off” and the Chiefs come back to win the game?  The answer is:  0.4 percent.

Real 92.3's The Real Show

INGLEWOOD, CA – NOVEMBER 05: Usher performs at Real 92.3’s The Real Show at The Forum on November 5, 2016 in Inglewood, California.

Here’s one that’s kinda normal compared to the rest…and weirdly…we just saw this happen in the AFC Championship Game…if either quarterback catches one of his own passes…you can make bank.  According to odds-makers, this is at 1.3 percent.  Put some dough on it!

NFC Championship - Detroit Lions v San Francisco 49ers

SANTA CLARA, CALIFORNIA – JANUARY 28: Brock Purdy #13 of the San Francisco 49ers drops back to pass the ball against the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game at Levi’s Stadium on January 28, 2024 in Santa Clara, California.

All in all…I can’t wait for the Super Bowl!  I’m just waiting for the prop bet where Patrick Mahomes and Andy Reid both turn on Jake From State Farm and take his insurance money!  I’m Davey Mac…now on to the Scoreboard!

Kansas City Chiefs v Los Angeles Chargers

INGLEWOOD, CALIFORNIA – JANUARY 07: Patrick Mahomes #15 of the Kansas City Chiefs and head coach Andy Reid speak before a game against the Los Angeles Chargers at SoFi Stadium on January 07, 2024 in Inglewood, California.

  • Ravens Hire New Head Coach

The Seahawks have hired Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald as their next head coach.  The Ravens’ defense was No. 1 in points allowed, sacks and takeaways in 2023.  Crazy.  Bill Belichick is still out there…yet still has not gotten hired by a new team…insane!

    Miami Dolphins v Baltimore Ravens

BALTIMORE, MARYLAND – DECEMBER 31: Defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald of the Baltimore Ravens looks on during the first half of the game against the Miami Dolphins at M&T Bank Stadium on December 31, 2023 in Baltimore, Maryland.

  • Durant Scores 33 In Return To Brooklyn As Suns Beat Nets

    Phoenix Suns v Brooklyn Nets

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – JANUARY 31: Kevin Durant #35 of the Phoenix Suns dunks against Royce O’Neale #00 of the Brooklyn Nets and 1 #8 of the Brooklyn Nets during their game at Barclays Center on January 31, 2024 in New York City.

The 76’ers go against the Jazz in Utah.  The Sixers are 29 and 17…5th in the Eastern Conference.

The Knicks and 76’ers were off.  Tonight the Knicks take on the Pacers in Madison Square Garden.  The Knicks are on an 8-game win streak…the best streak in the NBA.  And in their last 16 games, the Knicks are 14 and 2.  They’re now at the #3 spot in the Eastern Conference as well.

Denver Nuggets v New York Knicks

NEW YORK, NEW YORK – JANUARY 25: Jalen Brunson #11 of the New York Knicks reacts during the second half against the Denver Nuggets at Madison Square Garden on January 25, 2024 in New York City.
