The Morning Rat Race

NANCY, FRANCE - (Photo by Doug Pensinger/Getty Images)

Good morning, Sports fans!   Davey Mac back with your first Sports Report of the week!   We took off on Friday…so we’re catching up on a few things today!   But before we get into the scores and news…did you see what happened at the Tour de France?   Yuh-yoh!   Check this out!

OUCH!   I gotta tell ya…this is the main reason why I’m not a competitive cycler.   That…and the fact that I prefer traveling via a car.

I mean…how do this NOT happen all the time?   These guys are packed in together like sardines, going 100 miles per hour, zigging and zagging through the mountains of France, with spectators everywhere…I’m surprised this doesn’t happen every day of the race!

Not to belabor the point…but I have no fear of wiping out in my Subaru Forrester when I’m driving through the hills of Vernon Valley or Montclair!   Plus…can play my tunes loudly and rock out…which I believe is not feasible in competitive racing!

Bottom line…I salute all of the participants in the Tour de France…but be careful, folks!   These crashes are no bueno!   I’m Davey Mac…that’s my two cents!

  • Yanks Blow Game To Rockies

The Yankees had a bad loss yesterday as they were beaten in extra innings…8 to 7.   Gerrit Cole pitched well…throwing six innings…giving up one run…while striking out 11…but the Yankees bullpen had an awful game.   They blew a 3 to 1 lead in the 8th inning…and then in the bottom of the 11th…with the Yanks up 7 to 5…they gave up two home runs to end the game.   The Yankees end up losing two out of three to the Rockies and, at 50 and 44, are tied with the Red Sox for LAST PLACE in the A.L. East.   Awful.   Fire Brian Cashman TODAY.

  • Deadline For Saquon & Giants Is Today At 4 PM

The Giants have until 4 PM TODAY to get superstar running back Saquon Barkley to sign a franchise tag otherwise he will have to be a hold out this year.   Hopefully this happens because the Giants definitely need Saquon back…he rushed for a career-high 1,312 yards and also was very active as a pass-catcher as well.

  • Steph Curry Wins Celeb Golf Tournament With Big Putt

Basketball…or golf…I suppose.   NBA megastar Steph Curry made an 18-foot putt for eagle on the final hole to win the American Century Championship on Sunday, his first title in the celebrity tournament.   Curry finished with 75 points, two ahead of runner-up Mardy Fish, a former pro tennis player who won this event in 2020.
