Blink-182 Rocked Citifield One More Time
Blink-182 puts on great live shows. My ears are still ringing, but it’s not bothering me, Blink-182 Rocked Citifield One More Time and it was so much fun! A stadium show is hard to pull off, but the pop-punk three-piece got the job done!
Traffic was horrendous getting into Queens, so we got there as opener Pierce The Veil was winding down. We heard a few songs from them and they sounded very good. This was the largest crown in NY that the band has ever played and they seemed extra grateful for Blink-182 taking them out on the road for the tour.
As for Blink? Well, they sounded awesome. The playing was fast, pretty damn technical and those songs are fun. The crowd was shaking and moving and singing along to almost every word! What really caught my attention was the banter between songs. Remember, this is a band that went through a lot. Drummer Travis Barker was in a plane crash, Tom Delonge left the band for a while, came back, left again, and now is back. Do you follow that? LOL But through their banter on stage with jokes about who was sleeping with who’s Mom, it just felt like near lifelong friends playing in a garage. And that was really joyous to watch.
They sounded great and brought the hits, as well as a few deeper cuts. And also brought pyrotechnics and fireworks. It was really fun to see all the eye candy as we rocked out to “Stay Together For The Kids” or the new album, double bass drum-filled deep cut “More Than You Know.”
Travis was on a drum riser for some of the show showing off his skill and love of the drums. What a drummer! And sure there were a few instances that were glitchy – a guitar not on, a few dropped picks, etc. But man, we had so much fun, that those glitches were almost unnoticeable!
