Good morning, Sports fans! Davey Mac here with your final Sports Report of the week! We’ve got baseball matchups for this weekend, NBA and NHL playoffs beginning, and more…but first…
We Recap On Bill Belichick
…In yesterday’s Sports Report we talked about how New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft back-stabbed his now-former head coach Bill Belichick. Sources tell ESPN that when Atlanta Falcons owner, who was looking to hire a new coach, spoke with Kraft about Belichick…Kraft had nothing nice to say. Kraft said Belichick was arrogant and that Kraft didn’t trust Belichick.

FOXBOROUGH, MASSACHUSETTS – JANUARY 11: Owner Robert Kraft (L) hugs head coach Bill Belichick (R) of the New England Patriots during a press conference at Gillette Stadium on January 11, 2024 in Foxborough, Massachusetts. Belichick announced he is stepping down as head coach after 24 seasons with the team.
Wow. I mean…I know Belichick can be hard to like at times…but he did win six Super Bowls for Kraft…no love for that? Meanwhile, what has people talking now is that Belichick reportedly would like to coach one of three teams next year…the Dallas Cowboys, the Philadelphia Eagles, and the New York Giants.
And as a mega-fan of Big Blue…I can tell you that the long-time Pats coach as the Giants head coach is absolutely fascinating to me.

FRANKFURT AM MAIN, GERMANY – NOVEMBER 12: Bill Belichick, Head Coach of the New England Patriots, looks on during the NFL match between Indianapolis Colts and New England Patriots at Deutsche Bank Park on November 12, 2023 in Frankfurt am Main, Germany.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not a Brian Daboll (the current coach) hater. I think Daboll has done a solid job…and getting to the NFL Playoffs two years ago (in Year One of his coaching tenure) was impressive. BUT…this is SIX-time Super Bowl Champion Bill Belichick we’re talking about here. That’s a tough apple for Adam and Eve to pass up!

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA – NOVEMBER 05: Head Coach Brian Daboll of the New York Giants looks on in the second quarter of a game against the Las Vegas Raiders at Allegiant Stadium on November 05, 2023 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
I mean…we have to remember…Belichick’s greatness truly started with the Giants after all as he won two Super Bowls as defensive coordinator under then head coach Bill Parcells. Belichick has stated that he still has a strong connection to the Giants organization and has very fond feelings towards them. Hey, I’m just saying! It’s worth mulling over! Bill back with Big Blue? It sure would be interesting! I’m Davey Mac…now on to the rest of the Sports Report!

GLENDALE, AZ – FEBRUARY 01: Head coach Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots holds the Vince Lombardi Trophyafter defeating the Seattle Seahawks 28-24 during Super Bowl XLIX at University of Phoenix Stadium on February 1, 2015 in Glendale, Arizona.
