Good morning, Rat Rock Nation! Davey Mac here and as some may or may not know…I’m a big pop culture fan and…because of my love of Star Wars and Indiana Jones…a massive Harrison Ford fan as well. So color me surprised when I saw this recent post from a film critic named Courtney Howard…

Um…not for nothing…but is this really a thing? Or did Courtney make up a trend that doesn’t actually exist?   I mean…who is hating on The Fugitive? The movie, released in 1993, was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture; it earned Tommy Lee Jones an Oscar for Best Supporting Actor; and was a gigantic hit at the box office.

Sorry, Courtney, but I’m calling B.S. on this post! The Fugitive rocks and is pretty much loved by all who’ve seen it!   I’m not falling for this!   And, as a result, I’ve decided to make a list to combat Courtney’s claim.   So…we’re ranking the Top 5 Harrison Ford Movies Where He’s NOT Indiana Jones Or Han Solo and have some great clips that we’re adding to the list!

  • 5.) Patriot Games

Patriot Games is an excellent thriller with Ford taking his turn at playing Jack Ryan…the legendary CIA character created by Tom Clancy.   And, in fact, Patriot Games may be the best Ryan movie of the bunch.

  • 4.) American Graffiti

Harrison Ford as the bad guy?   Yessir!   Before George Lucas cast Ford as Han Solo in Star Wars, George utilized Ford as the villain drag racer in 1973’s excellent American Graffiti.

  • 3.) Witness

A masterwork of suspense and intrigue…if you haven’t seen Witness in a while (or never), go check out this excellent psychological thriller.

  • 2.) The Fugitive

I actually just viewed The Fugitive recently and it more than holds up after 30 years.   Fantastic performances all-around, Ford is excellent, Tommy Lee Jones is iconic, and story is gripping.   Wonderful movie!

  • 1.) Bladerunner

Master film-maker Ridley Scott created a Sci-Fi dystopian classic with this innovative and simply brilliant film.   In one of Ford’s darker movies, Harrison delivers possibly his best performance as an actor…and the picture is legendary.
