PHILADELPHIA, PENNSYLVANIA – JANUARY 22: Joel Embiid #21 of the Philadelphia 76ers shoots a lay up between Victor Wembanyama #1 and Jeremy Sochan #10 of the San Antonio Spurs during the third quarter at the Wells Fargo Center on January 22, 2024 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Embiid scored a franchise-record 70 points in the game.
Embiid’s 70 points is more than Wilt Chamberlain’s 68 points that he scored for the Sixers…which was the previous franchise record. In case you’re wondering about Wilt’s 100-point game…that was with the Philadelphia Warriors…a different franchise. That team relocated to San Francisco where they ultimately became the Golden State Warriors. Wilt played on both the Sixers and the Warriors…and his 68 with the Sixers had stood for all these years.

American basketball player Wilt Chamberlain, one of the highest paid athletes in America, USA, 25th August 1965.
By the way, Embiid also had 18 rebounds, 5 assists, a block and a steal…so he was dominant everywhere last night. What a complete player and utter force in the NBA. Congrats, Joel, on the MONSTER game!
